Plastic Introduction:
Plastic has been a very valuable material for the human population. It has been used in a variety of different ways such as containers or being used as a building compound for objects such as a vacuum, phone, or auto part. Plastic is super cheap to produce and can be used in medical procedures because it provides a barrier preventing the spread of disease, infection, or bodily fluids. A document titled Plastics and Environmental Health: The Road Ahead by Emily J. North and Rolf U. Halden said, "Over 300 million metric tons of plastics are produced in the world annually [2] and about 50% [3] of this volume is for disposable applications, products that are discarded within a year of their purchase." That is a lot of waste that will sit in the landfills for decades upon centuries for it to degrade leaking chemicals into the soil (1).
I have tried cutting my pollution waste down trying to be as green as possible, one of the first things I did was to try and think of ways to be more green. I went through my daily routine and thought about what kind of waste I discarded/threw away in the trash most on average daily. My conclusion was that the majority of my waste was a plastic product. I decided to not get disposable plastic bottles and get a hydro flask and vow to use the least amount of plastic bags possible.
Think about how much waste you produce daily and the amount it would add up to over a year.
