Introduction Post:
For the first post, I decided I would introduce the main theme of the blog and talk about why I choose to do a blog and pick the theme I chose. I chose to do the blog because I feel that sometimes while we have done all this science and research to create new technology, there is not a strong way to broadcast science to the general public. Some scientific papers can be confusing to read if you have not previously had any practice or knowledge of the subject beforehand. This is why we need more blogs and people to bridge the gap and present the subject manner in a better way for the general public to understand.
The main theme of this blog is plastic. I will cover a broad range of topics relating to plastic, with my main goal of this blog being that I want to broadcast and inform people of why we should be wary of the amount of plastic we are using. I have seen it myself even at the farthest reaches of the earth, how plastic waste has spread to even the most remote places. When I went to Hawaii this past fall from August to December at almost half the beaches you could find plastic waste washed up somewhere. Sometimes it was a whole 30 yards covered in a plastic litter with fishing nets and other debris, others its bottles, cans, caps, and cigarette butts. It was devastating to see that even places in the middle of the ocean felt the effects of pollution and plastic.
